Thursday, October 12th the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class will spend a day learning about how our 23,000 students in Mesa County are educated by School District 51. The Chamber Leadership Class includes a wide spectrum of individuals in key businesses in the community. The School District 51 Foundation organized the events and agenda for the day.
They will start the day at 10:45 a.m. at the Harry Butler Board Room with a welcome from D51 Chief Academic Officer Tony Giurado and D51 Foundation Executive Director Angela Christensen. The day will include a tour of R5, presentations from Appleton Elementary Principal Corey Hafey, Fruita Middle School Principal Brig Leane, and Palisade High School Principal Dan Bollinger. In addition, participants will hear from the Director of Maintenance and Operations Eric Nilsen and the Manager of Resource Conservation Eric Anderson. Lunch will be served from The Lunch Lizard.
From 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. the Leadership Class will take buses to Orchard Mesa Middle School located at 2736 C Road and receive a tour of the school from Principal Cheryl Vana and students.
