WHY: Partnering to increase technology in D51 schools, the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF) and the D51 Foundation both granted $2,500 for a total of $5,000 for 3-D printers for 9 middle school MESA Clubs (Math, Engineering and Science Achievement). There are approximately 300 MESA Club students who now have the tools they need to compete in modern day design competitions.
The grant funding for the printers is part of WCCF’s multi-year initiative to raise public awareness and increase resources for STEM- focused curriculum for K-12 students. WCCF serves seven counties in western Colorado, managing charitable funds for community good. Currently, the Community Foundation manages over 250 charitable funds totaling $60 million in assets and awards nearly $2.5 million in grants and scholarships annually.
