D51F Distributes 14th Round Professional Learning Grant Awards

The District 51 Foundation is pleased to announce its 14th round of Professional Learning Grant Award Recipients. A total of more than $10,000 in grants will be awarded from the D51 Foundation to 84 District 51 staff members. Since 2018, the D51 Foundation has donated over $150,000 to 444 D51 staff members for professional learning.

According to Amy Neil, past D51 Foundation grant recipient and teacher at Tope Elementary, “This support has enriched our curriculum with innovative, hands-on learning experiences and fostered increased student engagement and achievement in STEM subjects. Additionally, the grant has facilitated valuable partnerships with local businesses, providing students with real-world learning opportunities and enhancing our community ties. Overall, the grant has significantly elevated the quality of our STEM education and contributed to our students’ success and enthusiasm for STEM learning. Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey and for supporting our vision for excellence in education. ” The grant was for National Certification for STEM Teaching.

Each year, the D51 Foundation uses proceeds from its White Iced Celebration and other fundraising efforts to fund specific needs in School District 51. This year, fundraising dollars will be used to invest in technology and innovation for students, provide professional learning for D51 staff, and support student and staff wellness.

“The D51 Foundation’s generosity has made a difference in our school district by funding teachers who have the passion and drive to make a difference in our students’ lives. Every teacher who was fortunate enough to be awarded grant money has had a positive experience with an even more positive student outcome. D51 Foundation, you are much appreciated and valued in our school district!” added Grand River Academy teacher Alanna Piccillo who received funding in the 13th Round to attend the training from the National Virtual Teacher Association.

“The D51 Foundation appreciates educators and the incredible impact they have on our community. Part of our mission is to support professional learning for educators through grant programs. Because of our generous community, we have been able to increase our grant opportunities for educators and we love that!” said Peter Icenogle, D51 Foundation Board President.
