D51F Donates $35,000 for Digital Classrooms

The D51 Foundation donated $35,000 to D51 to provide 10- 21st Century Digital Classrooms. The ten schools receiving this donation are: Fruita Middle School, Mount Garfield Middle School, West Middle School, Grand Mesa Middle School, Bookcliff Middle School, Redlands Middle School, Fruita Monument High School, R-5 High School, Palisade High School, and Central High School. Since 2019, the D51 Foundation has provided a total of 35- 21st Century Digital Classrooms including this donation.

This donation goes to the D51 Foundation’s funding priority of Technology & Innovation. Other funding priorities include Professional Learning for D51 staff to grow students academically and Student and Staff Wellness. Last fall the D51F granted over $7,500 for D51 staff specifically for technology and innovation needs in the classroom. In addition, with the generous support of Chevron through the D51 Foundation, hundreds of 4th-8th grade students were able to participate in Submerged: FIRST Lego League Tournament last November.

The following items can be included in a 21st Century Digital classroom: teacher computer, pre-wired electrical raceway, an Aquos Board, document camera, instructional audio system, and an interactive video camera. Installation charges are also part of the cost associated with these classrooms. This year with the assistance of the D51 Technology team, more classrooms than ever before were able to be installed.

“We are incredibly grateful to the D51 Foundation for their generous $35,000 donation, helping us create better workspaces for students and educators. Their support directly enhances learning environments, fosters collaboration, and strengthens our schools. We appreciate their partnership in making a lasting impact on our community,” says Dan Burke, D51 Executive Director of Technology.

“The support educators receive from the D51 Foundation is instrumental in helping them reach their goal of educating every student. Thank you so much for the 21st Century classroom technology upgrade. I’m excited to see what the future holds,” noted Veronica Daehn Harvey, Newspaper Advisor and English teacher at Central High School who received one of the updated classrooms.

“As part of our mission, the Foundation is dedicated to improving the tech resources in our schools, ensuring that every student has access to the best learning environments possible. We want to send a huge thank you to our amazing donors! Your support is making it possible to bring the latest technology into even more classrooms, giving our students the tools they need to succeed in today’s world,” adds Tawni Kelley, newly elected President of the D51 Foundation.

“21st century technologies are extremely influential in shaping learning experiences for learners at R-5 High School. Providing increased access to these technologies allows learners to engage in experiences that will prepare them to be innovators and change agents in their futures. We are deeply grateful for the support provided by the D51  Foundation and look forward to the increased outcomes these additions will create for our community,” added Nick Steinmetz, Principal at R-5 High School.
