11 Mar Blythe Endowment
The D51 Foundation surprised Roy Blythe with our 1st Friend of the Foundation Award. Roy was the founder of the foundation over 10 years ago. He was driving over the mountains and stopped in Vail to pick up a paper and read that the local school foundation had just donated 1 million dollars to the school district. He came back to town and talked to the D51 Superintendent Steve Schultz, and the rest is history. He was able to gather a team of strong community leaders who also knew the key role public education plays in Mesa County.
Throughout all these years, Roy and Pamela Blythe have continued to support the foundation and have worked hard to stay actively engaged in our efforts. Our award to Roy wasn’t the only surprise of the evening. We surprised Roy, and then he surprised us! During our Awards Dinner, Roy and Pamela announced that they had just made a very generous donation to set up an endowment benefitting D51F with the Western Colorado Community Foundation. The donation from Roy and Pamela will make a significant difference in the foundation for years to come. Thank you, Roy and Pamela for all the seen and unseen ways you are both making a difference in our community!
